History, Theory and Criticism of Architecture

We develop narratives that explore innovative means of tying together architecture, culture and society in past and present.

History, Theory and Criticism of ArchitectureAbout our research

Research projects in this section focus on divergent aspects of architecture in so far as they shape, or are shaped by, other cultural and social phenomena, today and in the past.

The researchers approach their field from a critical perspective, which relates to the traditions of critical theory as well as to principles of historical criticism. They consciously contribute to the construction of architectural narratives that explore innovative means of tying together spatial practices, culture and society.

Various projects focus on different scales, ranging from furniture and domestic interiors to urban conditions and effects of globalism, and engage with different exchanges between architectural theory and history, and other critical disciplines or spatial practices.
